1 DAY GUIDED TOUR THROUGH THE LOWER SILESIA REGION
The Mysterious RIESE Project
DURATION: approx. 10 hours | DEPARTURE FROM WROCŁAW/ŚWIDNICA | TOPICS: History, World War II, Military
The tour will allow You to discover the most important sites that were part of the so called RIESE Project ( in English – the Giant). A huge, ambitious and incredibly costly construction plan of the Hitler’s III Reich during the World War II.
Riese – was it another Hitlers field headquarters or a secret complex of armament factories? Over 75 years have passed and the forests in the Owl Mountains in the Lower Silesia region still seem to be hiding many secrets.
During the tour we will see the most important constructions that were created.
We will start the tour in the pretty town of Swidnica . After a while and a brief introduction we will head for the mountains. There we will walk through an old rail tunnel where suposedly Hitler;s special train could have been hidden . Later we will see a palace which was the command centre
of the whole construction. Most importantly we will visit two most important and best preserved underground complexes of mine adits ( tunnels).

main attractions of the trip
The Mysterious RIESE Project

Jedlinka Palace
Jedlinka Palace served as the headquarters of the RIESE construction management board – it housed, among others, the offices of Director Mayer from the Todt Organisation.

Underground City Osówka (Säuferhöhen)
Complexes of underground tunnels built during World War II. Osówka was supposed to be the largest facility in the Owl Mountains. It is likely that it was planned that the Fuhrer of the Third Reich – Adolf Hitler – would stay there.

Włodarz Complex (Wolfsberg)
The largest object of the Riese Project. It consists of about 3 km of corridors, bunkers and halls partially flooded with water.
