Wroclaw (Poland)

Wroclaw is my place on earth. This city is not only the place where I live, but much more. Wroclaw is my passion!

Wrocław is a truly an international and a multicultural city. It was it in the past and and it is nodways.. In the past, Poles, Czechs, Germans, Walloons, Hungarians, Spaniards, Jews and many other nations settled here.

It was part of Poland, the Kingdom of Bohemia, The Hambsburg monarchy and the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation ( The Reich), The Prussian Kingdom, the German Empire ( Reich)  and the Weimar Republic (formally – the Reich), and since 1945 is again in Poland. In Wroclaw one of the bishops was from Wallonia ( nowdays part of Belgium). It is in Wroclaw that King Casimir the Great of Poland and Emperor Charles IV met.

It is in Wroclaw where famous peple lived as the Saint Hedwig (the first female saint in the Polish history), Ferdinand Lasalle ( the founder of the first socialist party in German history),
Fritz Haber ( Nobel prize in 1918), Edith Stein (a famous female scolar and current patron of the European Union), Professor Alzheimer and many more.

This is a city that once boasted the status of a merchant republic, just like Dubrovnik, although it did not have its own fleet. At one time, Wrocław was surrounded by three strips of defensive walls and to this day it has the second largest medieval market square in Poland, which clearly proves the economic power of the city in the past.

Nowadays, the capital of the Lower Silesia Voivodeship it has the status of one of the richest cities in Poland . It is in Wroclaw where the average salary is second only to Warsaw. Wroclaw is as symbolized by the Sky Tower, the second tallest residencial building in Poland ( in 2025).

The city has a beautifully conserved old town with a magnificent gothic town hall, the second largest medieval market square in Poland, an amazing batoque University hall – the Leopoldina, one of the most modern Zoological gardens in Poland and an amazing museum of Water –the Hydropolis.

Wroclaw was one of the hosts of the 2012 European Mens Footlball Championship. In 2016 it was named the European Capital of Culture  alongside San Sebastian ( Donostia). In the same year it was the host of the European Film Awards. It is here where a few Oscar winning movies were fillmed including the Character and The Bridge of Spies ( by S Spielberg).

Wroclaw is currently a big metropolis with a population of approx 900 thousand.

Come to Wroclaw and discover one of Poland’s most interesting and beautiful big cities. Allow me to guide You through the most important sites of my city – Wroclaw!
